Lady Gaga as Rand Heroine

First of all, it’s great to be back.  Many tips o’ the nib to jzuk and scrahan for picking up my slack while I recuperated from TB and scads of dental work.  That said, back to the grind!

Amidst the mad flurry of hearings – Supreme Court confirmation, health care bill, and otherwise — it’s sometimes difficult to remember what’s really important; pop-friendly neo-burlesque electronica!  Or conservative parodies thereof.

In what can only be a lamentable attempt by Republicans to court “those whipper-snappers” and/or be funny — and, as has been proven time and time again, conservatives simply are not funny.  My pet theory is that humor requires an ability to not take oneself seriously, an ability the majority of conservatives lack — on 21 July 2009 the GOP unveiled, at their weekly meeting, Just Tax; a riff on Lady Gaga’s Just Dance, created by a UW-Seattle alum named Peter Cowman.

First off, perhaps your “viral” “video” might actually go “viral” if you put some production values into it.  Or, better yet, featured someone who sounded remotely like Lady Gaga.

Secondly, the “youth vote” (of which I am still a member, at least for the next year or so) isn’t really going to be courted effectively by the Republican standby of taxes = unmitigated evil.  Particularly when it’s imparted by the douchiest, frattiest, plaidest shorts-wearing (in 2009?  really?) poseur this side of the U of Wash campus.  Which, I might add, is funded in part by taxpayer dollars.

Besides, has anyone asked Lady Gaga how she feels about this issue?  Then again, she does wear a Cruella deVille-like Coat made from 101 Kermits.  She might very well be a Republican dame.

Thought this was going to be a story mentioning Lady Gaga swapping for Charlize Theron on Atlas Shrugged: The Movie.
